Undertstanding the Sheldon System
The Sheldon system of grading named after it's inventor Dr Sheldon incorporates numbers in the grading of coins. The Grades are About Good 3 (AG3) Good 4 (G4) Very Good 8 (VG8) Fine 12 (F12) Very Fine 20 (VF20) Good Very Fine (VF30) Extremely Fine 40 (EF or XF40) Good Extremely Fine (EF 45 or XF45) About Unc 50 (AU50) About Unc 55 (AU55) About Unc 58 (AU58) Uncirculated MS 60 through MS70 Proofs are given the prefix PR for example PR65 etc Copper is given colour designations RD = Red, RB = Red Brown & BN = Brown.
